Fictional Anthropology by ISABEL GALLAHER

About

Sight in Words is an online magazine launched by me, Is. With no real reason for you to know who I am, I’ll go ahead and tell you what brings us together here, thank you for stopping by.

I am Isabel Gallaher, a chilean/american sociocultural anthropologist and writer. I live between two languages, English & Spanish. And in this translation I find a vehicle that carries me between culture and words.

Storytelling is the way I see the world. Not as an invented reality to entertain oneself (that, too) but as the only way I can explain how we come to be: who we choose to represent, and what we decide to tell. For me, stories are how we survive and keep identities alive. That is in what I gladly spend my time.

Reading is a conversation, writing its extension.

So: we need to talk.

In this e-pages you can find:

  • Weekly column
  • Essays
  • Poems & Prose
  • Translations
  • Blog: Travel journal

Thanks for stopping by. If you’d like to further the conversation or suggest a theme of observation, write to me at: isabelwritesgallaher@gmail.com
